Life Lessons from One of the Greatest Writers

There are people writing, and there are people reading. From ancient times to the present, writing has been a way to pass down stories, share experiences, and preserve culture. Reading is also a way to learn information and enjoy life. God speaks to His people through His written Word, and people can know the truth by reading it. One of the greatest authors in history was a man named C.S. Lewis. In reading his books, The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, Out of the Silent Planet, and the Silver Chair, there are several lessons that one can learn. First, God never forgets His people. Second, God has the power to change people. Third, God’s presence allows His people to be brave.

In the book The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, Edmund is the younger brother of Peter and Susan and the older brother of Lucy. He starts out as a scheming and dishonest boy, and Peter says to him, “You’ve always liked being beastly to anyone smaller than yourself; we were seen that at school before now” (C.S. LWW 130). Edmund, in several other instances, also disagrees with Susan, argues with Peter, and even makes fun of the Professor. More than that, he teases Lucy and lies about traveling to another world.

In Narnia, Edmund chooses to join the side of the White Witch because she gives him food. She promises to give him power and authority if she serves her. In…
